Sweetwater Adolescent Girls Program

Program Overview

Sweetwater adolescent girls program is a healing, nurturing, and supportive learning environment for girls between the ages of 13 and 17. We are located in the desert foothills of Tucson, Arizona and maintain a small, intimate setting with a maximum capacity of 12 girls

The length of our program is a minimum of 45 days and includes a solid base of medical management, 12-step recovery concepts, family involvement, group therapy, individual therapy, nutritional counseling, and specialty groups. We offer treatment for co-occurring disorders including the following issues:

  • Chemical Abuse/Dependency
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Trauma
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Eating Disorders
  • Grief and Loss
  • Self-Harm Behavior
  • Family Conflict

Treatment

Sweetwater adolescent program utilizes a unique and engaging approach to the treatment of co-occurring disorders. This approach allows for the use of various treatment modalities that offer opportunities for introspection, insight, skill development, and social integration.

Individualized treatment planning creates a venue for support, understanding, and goal-directed care. Each patient participates in the development of her treatment goals and plan. In this gender-specific program, adolescent girls explore the concepts of community values, communication, and teamwork.

  • Rocks and Ropes Course

Admissions

Admission to Cottonwood begins with a phone call to our admissions staff. An initial intake interview will be conducted to assess current treatment needs. This assessment will explore the following areas:

  • Developmental history
  • Current or past substance use (if any)
  • Signs of depression and/or anxiety
  • Behavioral problems
  • Body image concerns or history of an eating disorder
  • Family dynamics
  • Current education status
