Travel & Accommodations

Accommodations

The Nash House is a house with a kitchen and two group rooms. The residential area is attached. Three of the sleeping rooms have two beds and the fourth has three beds. In following the Cottonwood philosophy, we believe that isolation is another form of escape. The rooms are assigned according to the number of participants and gender breakdown. If you have special needs, please let us know in advance, however, it may not be possible to accommodate all requests.

Meals

Meals will be served in the main dining room of Cottonwood. This includes a meat entrée and vegetarian entrée. There is also a fruit and salad bar. The Nash House does have it's own kitchen so it is possible to prepare your own meals, especially if you are on a special diet. Please let us know in advance if you require a special diet while eating in our dining room.

Travel Information

If traveling by air to Cottonwood, there are several options.

  • Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is 2 hours driving time. You can transfer at the airport to the Arizona Shuttle, which leaves every half hour for Tucson. The cost is $30.00 one way. They will drop you at the Ina Road stop and you can take a taxi to Cottonwood. Just tell the driver when you depart from Phoenix that you need a taxi to meet you. The taxi ride is courtesy of InnerPath.

  • Tucson International Airport is approximately 20 minutes from Cottonwood. If you give us your arrival time, we will arrange for Arizona Stagecoach to collect you at the airport and bring you to the Nash House. This transportation is a courtesy of InnerPath.

  • From Europe the easiest connection is through Dallas/Ft. Worth on American Airlines. British Airways does have a direct flight from London to Phoenix.

When to Arrive

Each retreat will begin with an orientation.

You may check in the day before a retreat anytime after 1:00 pm. Orientation is between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm the night before the workshop starts.

We can only house participants within twenty-four hours of the start of the retreat and twenty-four hours after and this is based entirely on availability. We recommend the Hampton Inn (520) 618-8000 for accommodations outside of that time frame. They will pick you up at the airport and, in most cases, bring you to InnerPath on the check-in day. You must arrange the transportation with them upon reserving the room. Please tell them that you are coming to Cottonwood InnerPath and would like to receive the Cottonwood rate. We're looking forward to seeing you here.

Items to Bring

  • Casual and comfortable clothing/shoes, examples: jeans, shorts, athletic shoes, swimsuit, pajamas, and sweats. In cooler season add a light jacket or sweater. In summer add a sun hat of some sort. Tennis shoes or close-toed shoes are required for several of the activities.

  • Personal care products: suntan lotion, toothpaste, razor, toiletries, soap, shampoo, blow dryer, etc. Our Bookstore sells a selection of personal care products, stamps, and stationary. Sun block will be provided.

  • Cash, checkbook, or credit card if you want to shop in the bookstore. Massages are available by appointment for $80.00 cash.

  • Calling cards (available in the Bookstore).

  • Books, journals, magazines, radio with earphones are okay to bring.

Items to Leave at Home

  • Tight fitting or inappropriate clothing, i.e., short shorts, miniskirts, tank tops, cropped or midriff tops, jeans with holes in the buttocks or front, spandex, sheer clothing, and hard to launder clothing.

  • Drugs or alcohol. It is a prerequisite that you do not participate in InnerPath workshops if you are currently abusing drugs or alcohol. It is a requirement of the retreat that you not drink alcohol during your stay with us because we consider it to be a form of medicating feelings.

  • We encourage you to leave computers at home. Cell phones and pagers should be turned off during group. You may receive emails through innerpath@cottonwooddetucson.com. There are several phones in the Nash House, which are at your disposal. Phone cards are required for long distance calls.

  • Excessive cash, credit cards, and expensive jewelry. Cottonwood and InnerPath cannot assume responsibility for the loss of any items or cash that you bring.

  • Cameras. Because we are located on the property of Cottonwood de Tucson and enter the secured area, we must follow the security guidelines of Cottonwood. This is for the protection of the confidentiality of our in-patient population. It is also possible that members of your group may not want their pictures taken. Our whole process is based on confidentiality so please bear this in mind when staying at our facility.

Other Important Information

12-Step Meetings
If you want to attend meetings during your stay with us, please let us know so we can arrange transportation for you. We have a list of meetings available here in Tucson. The 12-step meetings on the Cottonwood campus are closed to InnerPath participants due to confidentiality and security.

Massages
If you are attending a weeklong retreat, massages are offered at the Nash House on Tuesday evenings. They are $80.00 cash and not included in the retreat fee. We will do what we can to accommodate other times but it will be much easier to book if you let us know in advance.

Groups
All retreats are limited to eight people. This is one of the things that make the InnerPath so unique. Each participant is able to get individual attention in regards to their reason for attending. We are, however, a group directed program, as we believe group work is the most intense.

Therapist Contact
If you are currently working with a therapist and would like them to be informed of the progress you've made during the retreat, we will give you a consent form to sign so that we can communicate with them.

Other important information:

  • Please do not fraternize with the Cottonwood patients.
  • Wear badges provided at all times when on the Cottonwood campus.
  • We have security that checks the Nash House during the night.
  • If driving to InnerPath, inform the security guard at the gate that you are with InnerPath and give your name as they already have a list of participants.

Calls from Outside
We do have telephones in the Nash House. Be aware that we never confirm that someone is in InnerPath or Cottonwood for confidentially purposes. The switchboard will transfer calls to our InnerPath participant voice mail system. Our toll free number is (800) 877 4520. Our local number is (520) 743-0411. They can also leave a message with the InnerPath office ext. 2141. Use the phone before group in the morning and after group in the evening. No phone use during the course of the "therapy" day. This is to help keep your distractions to a minimum.
