Wow Kathleen thanks for such an informative article on addiction in the aging population. Being in the aging population myself, (I'll get the senior discount in four more years, yea!) It answers why I am seeing many more seniors with drug and alcohol addictions, but especially prescription medication addiction. I especially appreciated the explanation of Erikson's theories about how we deal with our aging process. I heard it once said we spend most of our early years creating the package and our later years becoming more concerned with what is in the package. I see it in my own life. I am very proud that Cottonwood is doing a part in identifying and assisting a part of our community that sometimes becomes invisible to the rest of the world. Thank you again I thoroughly enjoyed your article.
